TEACH
is a co-operative support group of approximately 60 homeschooling
families who have joined together to support each other in our efforts
to educate our children.
We do this by sharing information and experiences
as well as participating together in field trips, classes, and social activities.

Submit your 2010' - 2011' school year application online!  Go to the membership application area for more information!

TEACH has a board of officers that oversees the organization's operations and coordinates some activities. However, since TEACH functions as a co-operative, members set the tone and initiate the majority of our events. Each family is responsible for planning one event per year.

Membership includes access to field trips and activities, our members-only website, our
on-line Activities Calendar and participation in the TEACH Support email discussion loop.
Our principal manner of communication is through the Internet.

Tolerance of all members' religious practices and homeschooling styles is a
cornerstone of
TEACH. Support is conducted in a confidential atmosphere.

TEACH is a support group and not a legal association that registers students with the school districts. For further information on these topics, see our pages on SC Homeschooling Laws and SC Accountability Groups.

Policies

TEACH was formed in 1994 by a handful of homeschoolers whose vision was to create a family of homeschooling friends who may not always have the same beliefs, but who would be mature and tolerant enough to appreciate one another's differences.

Tolerance

Members of TEACH agree to practice tolerance and respect of fellow members. Members agree to:

Support each member's reasons for homeschooling and his/her style of teaching.

Practice
tolerance of any member's difference of opinion including spiritual and political beliefs.

Commit to emphasizing the diversity of homeschoolers.

Encourage the acceptance of homeschooling as an individualized approach to education.

Affirm the freedom of parents to choose for their children an education that is consistent with their principles and beliefs.

Confidentiality

All TEACH members acknowledge that anything discussed during meetings, actvities, or on the e-mail loop, whether business or personal, shall not be discussed with non-TEACH members except with the express permission of the involved member. Members may not sell, publish, discuss or distribute membership information without the written consent of the member(s).

Participation

Each family must conduct one activity per year. Activities may be academic in nature such as a dissection lab, a walking tour of historical Charleston, or a trip to the museum.  Social activities like group ice skating, a Cinco de Mayo fiesta, or a picnic are also acceptable.  An Activity Coordinator is available to help with ideas for activities.

Non-compliance

Members who do not abide by their committment to TEACH will not be invited to renew their membership.

More detailed information about TEACH policies and procedures is available in the TEACH By-laws.
